Valentines Day is my favorite holiday. I just decided that last year. But I’m telling you it’s my favorite holiday. I love to do stuff for my wife and this is my chance to go big. So this year I was doing a painting. She of course wasn’t supposed to SEE it before Valentines Day, but I’m a doofus and forgot to hide it. She makes frequent visits to the studio and I should have covered it, but forgot one time. She still won’t get it until Valentines Day, but she already knows at least one thing she’s getting.

I took some pictures of the thing through the process…

Let’s see … it’s 16×20 acrylic on canvas and i’m experimenting with texture and layering colors. Oh, yeah … subject matter … it’s a quirky representation of a ring in her favorite color. Click on the thumbs to see larger versions of the art.

I just finished up a project for Learning Horizons … 5 projects of pencils only and two full color projects . I penciled them all and created all the flat color shapes in illustrator then sent them to my partner Cynthia Macias for the final rendering. What she did was amazing, and I wanted to give her some credit here for her work …

Someone asked me about adding some reference photos to the caricatures so you could see who I was caricaturing. So I added 2 photos of my friend Mari and one of Jarek. You can find those under the caricatures on the Personal Artwork page.

… and I added a site icon to the address bar.   If you bookmark the site, the new icon should appear beside the name of the site in your bookmarks as well.

A few changes were made for the updated site: I removed the CleanUp section. I don’t even have any cleanup samples on the site anymore. I may add some in the future, but for now, didn’t know that it was worth the bandwidth.

The Portfolio sections also include the Patent Beast cartoon.

The Pencils section has some new pencils along with some older work and then I moved personal works to a new section.

Likewise the Color section is basically professional work with personal things being moved to the new….

Personal Artwork…. this is where I put the other stuff I like but didn’t get paid to do.

I also included a small bio and picture along with some pictures of the studio here in the About the Illustrator and Contact section.

The blogroll is obviously a list of links to either places I’ve worked for, or people I work with.

In the near future, I’d like to start publishing the posts in Italian as well. I keep you updated as to why that would be when I get to that point.

I’ve decided to redo the website in a blog format in an effort to update the site more often than once every 18 months.

Even though it is featured at the top, I thought I’d start with the newly revamped logo….
