My name is Dave Walston and I have been a freelance illustrator since the summer of 1996. With no prior art experience or particular expectations for it, I started out cutting frisket for my brother in law, Ken, when he was a freelance illustrator. As I kept working in the field, I continued learning until I was drawing and learning to paint. I had also started learning Photoshop and helped move the studio from traditional to digital after a few years.

After several years, Kenny moved on to work for another studio and I found myself on my own. But God has been gracious to me and I found work then and continue to do so to this day. At one time there were several other artists all working here at the studio, but most have gone on to full time careers in the animation industry. Until about a year ago there was one other artist, Cynthia Macias, working with me though not here in the studio. Cynthia had been with me for over three years after doing her internship from Cal State Fullerton here. But over the last year and a half, things have changed and Cynthia has moved on.

Though I had no thoughts originally of making this my career, I have completely loved the 10 years spent doing artwork. While I may not be as gifted artistically as others, I do believe I have provided good service to the various art directors and companies for which I have done work. When hired, I believe that I have been entrusted with responsibilities and that you have hired me to make you look good for the people you work for. I will be on time, provide you with the type of work you are looking for and be a pleasure to work with.
