Illustration- Children’s

The Dream Travelers was one of the first original projects I developed after joining the law firm. The initial idea was to create a brother-and-sister team who could be placed into historical moments when important inventions or discoveries were taking shape, with the goal of introducing children to the process of innovation.

After researching several possible stories, I chose Horace Wells and the early use of nitrous oxide as an anesthetic. From there, I developed the project as a comic book. I created the characters and their personalities, wrote the story, storyboarded the pages, researched the historical settings, illustrated the book with as much period accuracy as possible, and prepared the finished project for printing.

The other examples shown here are from individual children’s books I illustrated for LeapFrog.
