Blender / 3D work

I began learning Blender in 2019 after one of the attorneys asked whether I could create 3D artwork for a case. At the time, I had no experience with 3D software, and I knew it was not something I could realistically learn well enough in just a few days.

However, I also saw that being able to produce 3D artwork in-house could become a useful capability for the firm. An artist friend had recently told me about Blender, so I downloaded it and began teaching myself the program.

Over time, I modeled a wide range of subjects, including the Patent Beast character, an espresso machine, office phones, machinery, several inventions being patented by the firm, my own condominium, and more organic subjects such as flowers and human figures. I also created several promotional pieces using 3D elements.

I wanted to preserve a somewhat two-dimensional graphic look within a 3D environment, so the high-rise buildings were modeled in 3D while many of the surrounding buildings, trees, and clouds were created as flat facades. I completed the piece in After Effects, where I added the firm’s logo and finishing elements.
